Today, August 10, St. Laurence is celebrated in Florence in the Basilica of San Lorenzo and in the district around. During the whole week a painting hangs above the church entrance door and reminds all the people of this very popular feast, which starts in the morning of August 10 with  religious ceremonies in the church and ends up in the evening with a concert and free pasta and water melon distributed to all participants.
